The Churnet Valley Railway have announced that their cancelled superpower event has be rescheduled to the 1st and 2nd of February 2020.

This comes after the first event was cancelled due to the severe flooding of the line. This meant that no trains could run as parts of the trackbed was washed away.

Thankfully, due to volunteers and fundraising, the trackbed has been restored in time for Christmas and the Santa Specials.

During the Superpower Weekend, three USA S160 locomotives will tackle the steeply graded Cauldon branch to Ipstones. This will be the first time in preservation that three S160s will operate together in passenger service.

S160 No. 2253 Omaha will operate alongside resident sisters No. 5197 and No. 6046 to haul trains along the Churnet Valley.

The Reconnect Leek campaign will also be launched at the event.
