The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway has released a short update on the overhaul of WD class 90733.
The WD class of locomotive is currently undergoing an overhaul at the KWVR’s Haworth MPD.
90733’s boiler tubes have been removed from its boiler by volunteers and shed staff.
The removal of the boiler tubes now allows engineers to inspect the boiler and see what work needs to be completed in order for the locomotive to return to steam.
The boiler is a major part of the locomotive, its where the water turns to steam, which in turns creates the power for the engine to move its load, and the Worth Valley definitely has some steep gradients to make it difficult.
90733 is a wonderful engine, and we have seen it a number of times at galas. So we are looking forward to seeing this locomotive return. What are your thoughts on this locomotive? Let us know in the comments below!
