The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway has announced that their second brand new carriage has arrived in the Lake District.
As part of the major rolling stock replacement programme, the narrow gauge railway is commissioning brand new closed carriages.
The first carriage arrived this month after being built at the Boston Lodge Works, at the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways.
In its brand new red livery and padded seating, the carriage offers increased comfort for passengers. This carriage follows the arrival of the brand new 1st class carriage earlier this year.
It will undergo testing before going into general service.
What did the officials say?
Stuart Ross General Manager (Visitor Experience) at Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway says,
‘We’re delighted to welcome the first of the new standard class closed carriages to the Railway. We will be gradually replacing stock at a rate of one or two carriages per year as part of the long term investment in the customer experience.’
