Network Rail are asking passengers to check before they travel as work continues to upgrade station next weekend.

Work will take place on Saturday, 26 and Sunday, 27 October 2019.

There will be some changes to services to, from and through Leeds on Saturday evening and there will be no trains in or out of the station on Sunday morning.

Rail replacement bus services will operate on all routes out of Leeds.

Services from Harrogate to Leeds are affected on both Saturday and Sunday, with replacement buses in operation between Horsforth and Leeds.

Participants and spectators of the Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash are being urged to allow extra time for their journeys to and from Leeds City Centre.

Parking is currently unavailable at the station, but other car parks are clearly signposted.

The first services on Sunday are expected to be extremely busy, with passengers asked to postpone travel until later in the day if possible.

During this time, will continue to work on the construction of platform zero, which will be adjacent to platform one.

Network Rail engineers will also be installing new overhead line equipment and testing new signalling equipment. The changes to services are needed so this work can be done safely.

What did the officials say?

Chris Montgomery, Major Programme Director for Network Rail, said:

“We are strongly advising passengers to check before they travel, via National Rail Enquiries or with their train operator next weekend as work continues to improve Leeds station.

“The work we are doing at Leeds will bring wider benefits for passengers in Leeds and across the region and will help reduce the impact of delays.

“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank all those impacted for their patience.”

A spokesperson on behalf of train operators using Leeds Station said:

“We are working closely with Network Rail to keep disruption to a minimum.

“We advise passengers to check their journey in advance of travelling on Saturday, 26 and Sunday, 27 October.

“This work will improve services at Leeds station, and we thank passengers for their patience whilst it is carried out.”

  1. Why is there no timetable available for bus replacements? I now need to make a non essential visit to the station to ask… National rail have no idea, in face sone advisors working from home in the garden… bad connection wind traffic talking in the background…. disgrace
