Steam locomotive 6201 Princess Elizabeth will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Carlisle and Blackburn on Saturday 12th October 2019.

The Princess locomotive is on a special railtour tomorrow. 6201 Princess Elizabeth is hauling the Cumbrian Mountain Express on Saturday.

We believe this tour to be hauled by 6201 Princess Elizabeth, however, this can change at short notice.

The railtour departs London Euston behind an electric locomotive at approximately 07:10 am.

The railtour will then leave London Euston, bound for Carlisle, where it will pass through Milton Keynes Central (07:45), Rugby (08:24), Nuneaton (08:45), Stafford (09:15), Crewe (09:36) and Preston (10:25) before arriving at Carnforth Down and Up Goods Loop at 10:50.

Here, 6201 Princess Elizabeth will be added to the front of the train. The train will depart with the at 11:24, steaming through Oxenholme (11:42) and Penrith (12:20), it will go non stop to Carlisle, where it will arrive at 12:41.

After around an hour and a half in Carlisle, 6201 will depart Carlisle at 14:12 bound for London Euston. It will pass through Lazonby & Kirkoswald (14:37) and will stop for water at Appleby (14:58).

Continuing down the Settle and Carlisle line, the locomotive will pass over the Ribblehead Viaduct at approx 15:56, continuing to Settle, the train comes off the Settle and Carlisle line at Settle Junction (16:15) where it heads for Hellifield, for a water stop, at 16:22.

From here, 6201 will pass through Clitheroe (17:09) and Blackburn (17:34) before arriving into Preston at 17:56.

At Preston, 6201 is taken off the train, and an electric locomotive will take the same path back to London Euston, calling at Crewe (19:27), Lichfield Trent Valley (20:14), Rugby (20:50), Milton Keynes Central (21:20) and Watford Junction at 22:02.

The railtour will arrive back at its final destination of London Euston at 22:27.
