The Cambrian Coast line between Barmouth and Pwllheli will be closed from 25th October to 11th November as vital bridge repair works are carried out.

Passengers have been asked by Network Rail and Transport for Wales to check their journeys in advance as the works take place on the River Artro Viaduct, which includes replacing structural parts of the bridge.

While the line is closed a rail replacement bus service will be in operation which will call at all the stations between Barmouth and Pwllheli.

Engineers have been undertaking essential platform work at Llandanwg station which will have been completed by the 24th of October.

Passengers can use www.nationalrail.co.uk to check for details of the replacement services.

Bill Kelly, route managing director for Network Rail Wales and Borders said:

“We are pleased to be investing in the Cambrian Line to improve the resilience and reliability of the railway for future generations to come.

“We would like to thank passengers and lineside neighbours for bearing with us as we carry out this essential upgrade work.”

Colin Lea, director of customer experience at Transport for Wales, said:

“Investing in our stations and other rail infrastructure is incredibly important for the long term success of our railway.

“We know this will have an impact on some customers along the Cambrian coast line and we will be working closely with our partners in Network Rail who are delivering these improvements to reduce that impact.

“I would urge all customers to check their journey details before they travel and I thank everyone for their patience.”
