The Bluebell Railway has announced that they have been a change in locomotive for their upcoming Giants of Steam gala.
Unfortunately, LMS Princess Coronation Class No. 6233 ‘Duchess of Sutherland’ will no longer be joining the railway for their Giants of Steam Autumn Gala.
However, in its place will be LNER B1 No.61306 Mayflower.
61306 Mayflower is one of two surviving B1 Class locomotives. She was first allocated to Hull Botanic Gardens Depot followed by a spell at Hull Dairycotes Depot before being finally transferred to Low Moor Depot, Bradford.
She was the last B1 in service, her final trip was hauling the ‘Yorkshire Pullman’ from Leeds in September 1967.
Mayflower joins previously announced 70000 Britannia and the home fleet in operating an intensive timetable.

[…] 61306 to attend Bluebell Railway gala instead of 6233https://www.railadvent.co.uk/2019/09/steam-locomotive-swap-at-the-bluebell-railway.html […]
This isn’t the real Mayflower, that was 61379
Why name this engine ?
Do we know why 6233 isn’t coming? I’d planned a 3 day visit to the Bluebell solely for that loco and whilst fully appreciate things sometimes just happen it would be nice to know the reasons.
