The Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust has released an update on the repair work taking place to 6233 Duchess of Sutherland.

6233 is currently stabled in Norwich following its failure last Friday.

The PRCLT has thanked everyone for their support following the problems.

The support crew, with the Right Inside Valve and Bush, were brought home to Butterley on Saturday for repair.

At the time of writing, a new tail rod bush is nearly finished being machined.

Once this is finished, the staff will travel back to Norwich to reassemble the locomotive.

They will then dispose of the locomotive and prepare the locomotive for a Light Engine movement from Norwich to Southall so the locomotive can travel to Bristol on Saturday in preparation to work the last Royal Duchy of the season.

Donations are very much appreciated, and if you can help, please click here.

  1. I travelled to Chester on Saturday expecting to see my absolute favourite locomotive only to hear that she had failed before the trip even started. I was disappointed of course but nothing like as disappointed as the tour passengers must have been. Just bad luck I suppose but you have to feel for them.
