Virgin Trains has announced they are the first train operator to offer all its ticket types in digital format.
They have added monthly and annual season tickets to those previously available. These tickets can be purchased online and delivered straight to the customers mobile device, meaning there is no longer a need to queue at stations or trying to keep a paper ticket safe.
In the last 12 months Virgin Trains have rolled out a number of first in the industry with their technological developments, this includes free Wi-Fi on trains, mobile ticket machines, and Track ‘n’ Travel to allow the customer to check their journey status.
As more customer start using mobile devices for ticketing, they rely more on having a charged phone. London Euston, Crewe, Preston and Manchester Picadilly now have charging points available.

Sarah Copley, Executive Director, Commercial, Virgin Trains, said:
“Buying or renewing a season ticket is now so much easier as it can be done anytime, including from your phone. Offering 100% of our tickets digitally is more evidence of our ongoing commitment to innovation and our customer service.
Digital tickets have many advantages. For example, because they allow us to link up our different systems customers can claim compensation much more quickly if there are delays.”
