TransPennine Express, alongside Northern and East Midlands Trains has announced that services along the Buxton and Hope Valley Lines have been suspended due to the ongoing incident at Whaley Bridge.
Some 1,500 residents of the Derbyshire town of Whaley Bridge and the surrounding area were evacuated from their homes on Thursday after concrete slabs used to form part of the Toddbrook Reservoir Dam spillway partially collapsed. With the Environment Agency issuing a severe flood warning; meaning there is ‘danger to life’.
Due to the extensive Police cordon in place surrounding the reservoir should the dam burst; rail services operated by East Midlands Trains, Northern, and TransPennine Express have been suspended until the end of service on Monday 5th of August 2019 at the earliest.
Train operating companies and National Rail are advising passengers NOT TO TRAVEL unless absolutely necessary.

My thoughts are with the people who live in Whaley Bridge are affected by the damaged dam that could burst open and water to cause widespread flooding to the town. As there is a threat of flooding as we are to see more bad weather coming.
