WATCH: We Bid Farewell to the Greater Anglia Class 37 locomotives

Monday 29th July 2019, saw Greater Anglia introduce their new Stradler Class 755s on Great Yarmouth & Lowestoft services.

This would see the end of the Greater Anglia Class 37s on services to Great Yarmouth & Lowestoft. 

The Class 37s were introduced in 2015 due to a lack of stock on Great Yarmouth & Lowestoft services from Norwich. These services saw two Class 37s top n tail 2 or 3 Mk2 coaches, operating a push pull system. 

RailView filmed the Class 37s on 22nd & 27th July. Including filming the last weekday service from Norwich to Great Yarmouth & back and also the very last service from Norwich to Lowestoft & back.

  1. It appears that greater Anglia have got a short haul set back . Sitting in the sidings ready to go this morning are a class 37 in intercity colours and mk 2 coaches.

  2. Thanks for serving the railways in East Anglia including working on the Norwich-Great Yarmouth Wherry Line Class 37s and the hired Mk3 coaches. Very sad to see them go as the Class 755s Flirt Bi-mode have entered service with more to be introduced in service throughout this year and the introduction to the Class 745 Flirt Electric and the Class 720 Aventra EMU trains which is scheduled to be in service from next year.

  3. The Class 37s on the Short Set haven’t finished yet. There now on standby in case of other DMU failures on the Wherry Lines.
    They went out today (Tuesday 30th July 2019) and did a couple of runs.

    There staying until end of August 2019.
