WATCH: Steam locomotive Clan Line steam through Warwickshire

Wednesday 10th July saw SR Rebuilt Merchant Navy Class Locomotive No. 35028 Clan Line head take charge of The Belmond British Pullman from London Victoria to Warwick Parkway and return from Stratford-upon-Avon. 

The Belmond British Pullman are various railtours which run around the country steam and diesel hauled by Belmond.

35028 Clan Line usually hauls them on from London Victoria to Redhill and back over the Surrey Hills and the occasional tour to Bristol Temple Meads via Bath Spa. 

The Belmond British Pullman on 10th July would see the Merchant Navy head through places such as Clapham Junction, Reading, Didcot Parkway, Oxford, Banbury, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Dorridge, Solihull, Tyseley, Whitlocks End, Wood End, Henley-in-Arden, Wilmcote & Stratford-upon-Avon Parkway.

Wednesday 10th July saw RailView 35028 Clan Line at 

  • Leamington Spa, passing through at 12:36, 1 minute late on the outward leg. 
  • Dorridge, passing through at 13:39, 11 minutes early on ECS to Tyseley LMD. 
  • Wilmcote, passing through at 17:03, 16 minutes late on ECS to Stratford-upon-Avon & 17:58, passing through 37 minutes late.

Info about 35028 Clan Line:

  • Designed by Oliver Bullied
  • Built by BR at Eastleigh Works in 1948
  • Rebuilt by BR at Eastleigh Works in 1959
  • She was withdrawn from BR in 1967
  • She was purchased directly from BR for preservation by the Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society in 1967
  • She returned to steam in 1974
  • She is currently owned by the Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society 
  • She was withdrawn for an overhaul in 2015
  • She returned to service in 2017
  • Clan Line hauls many tours in the south of England, regularly hauling The Belmond British Pullman
