Sunday 7th July 2019 saw LNER A3 Pacific 60103 ‘Flying Scotsman’ take charge of The Railway Touring Company’s first ‘The Waverley’ railtour of 2019 running from York to Carlisle via Leeds.
The Waverley on 7th July would see the A3 head through places such as Garforth, Leeds, Skipton, Hellifield, Appleby, Kirkby Stephen up to Carlisle.
In this video, Dan showcases 60103 Flying Scotsman passing through East Garforth, with the return working, this being 1Z47 1640 Carlisle to York. It passed through East Garforth 13 minutes early on its way to York.
Here is the photo from the trip!
Info about 60103:
- Designed by Sir Nigel Gresley
- Built at Doncaster Works in 1923
- She was withdrawn from BR in 1963
- She was purchased from the Scrap Yard in 1963 by Alan Pegler
- After a tour of America, Scotsman was unable to come home due to Pegler being declared bankrupt.
- In 1973, 60103 was purchased by Sir William McAlpine.
- She was taken under her own steam from Liverpool to Derby. She underwent restoration and 2 overhauls at Derby in the 23 years McAlpine owned the loco.
- 60103 attended the bicentenary celebrations in Australia in 1988, replacing originally planned 4468 Mallard.
- In 2004, 60103 was purchased by the NRM at York.
- It was anticipated for her most recent overhaul to be completed in 2010 but due to many reasons combined, Scotsman was handed over to Riley & Son’s in Bury for completion in 2013.
- 2016 saw 60103’s return to traffic.

Why does this steam railway site continually bombarding me with adverts for ladies underwear? I think they are quite inappropriate and surely missing their target by miles!
Thanks for your feedback. The adverts are provided by Google, we have no control over which adverts Google decides to show.
