Rail passengers travelling through Essex enjoyed live music in a special event on Saturday 29 June.

The Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership teamed up with train operator Greater Anglia to host special evening Music Trains on board a train from Marks Tey to Sudbury and back again.

Local band Anorak Patch and singer Luke Fisher and his guitar.

There were also refreshments on board including craft beer from local brewery Nethergate Stour Valley.

The Music Trains were held last year as a pilot project and due to their success, returned for 2019.

What did the officials say?

June Povey, Community Rail Partnership Officer, said,

“It was a great atmosphere. It felt like a party with people moving around the train to enjoy the music, see the beautiful scenery the train travels through, and chat to fellow passengers.

“It is clearly going to be a fixture in the calendar for the future.”

Greater Anglia’s Customer and Community Engagement Manager said

“I’m delighted to see the Music Trains return after a successful pilot project last year. They are a great way to spend an evening, bring the community together as the stunning countryside passes by and showcase the talents of our fantastic local musicians.”
