The Bala Lake Railway has announced that their recent gala was a big success with volunteers and visitors.

The BLRs gala always tries to have one or two visiting steam locomotives, and this year, Kerr Stewart ‘Joffre’ was on loan from the Apedale Valley Railway.

There were many photographers around for the weekend and the BLR scheduling team didnt disappoint.

Many trains were double-headed and on top that, all the red locos, Maid Marian, Alice and George B, were coupled together for one service. The traditional Saturday evening cavalcade featured five locos in steam, including Winifred and the ‘Joffre’.

Visitors also loved the Llangover Three Train Shuffle, with two passenger trains, one freight and one run around loop. It was a great thing to watch.
