The Mid Norfolk Railway has announced that 2238 will be visiting them for their upcoming steam gala.

The steam gala takes place between 28th and 30th June 2019, with tickets and timetables available to view here.

2238 visits, for the first time, thanks to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and the North Eastern Locomotive Group.

As you will be aware, 2238 comes as a replacement locomotive due to 60009 Union of South Africa, or 6233 Duchess of Sutherland, not being able to attend the gala.

About 63395

No. 63395 // Credit: North York Moors Railway

Originally built for the North Eastern Railway (NER) and part of the T2 class, 63395 was built in 1918. The Q6s were designed to haul the heaviest freight trains, surviving into both London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) and British Railways (BR) ownership.

Purchased from BR by the North Eastern Locomotive Preservation Group (NELPG) in 1968, 63395 is the only Q6 to be preserved. After steaming in the 70s and 80s, the engine became a static display for roughly two decades before an overhaul started, returning to steam in September 2007.
