In an agreement between the Severn Valley Railway and the West Somerset Railway, 7802 ‘Bradley Manor’ is destined to work on the WSR until early October 2019.
As 7802 heads for Somerset, 6960 ‘Raveningham Hall’ heads in the opposite direction to the Midlands and will operate on the SVR until early October also.
The swap comes in light of the West Somerset’s recent weight restriction on the track meaning some diesels and steam locomotives are unable to haul trains over certain sections of track.
Unfortunately, that meant that 6960 Ravingham Hall was unable to operate on the railway due to it being on the list of ‘too heavy’ locomotives.
On Saturday 8th June, 7802 will double head with sister locomotive 7828 ‘Odney Manor’ on a special evening dining service consisting of up to 14 coaches, which is certainly a sight not to be missed!
For more details on 6960’s and 7802’s workings on their temporary homes, visit the SVR’s or WSR’s website.
