The Helston Railway has thanked everyone who attended their ‘Return to the 40’s weekend’, either as an entertainer, visitor or volunteer, as it becomes a big hit for everyone.

They had a bumper two days of fun and frivolity.

They had examples of British, Russian, and German troops and their vehicles provided by their supporters from the WWII Re-enactment Group South West.

Also, they also had interesting demonstrations of their various types of equipment. They also had horses.

With some customers getting into the mood with an impromptu dance outside – Betty Bluebird had the use of the renovated St Erth lamp hut for her renditions of 1940 favourite tunes.

Plus a demonstration of live steam from the 16mm garden railway group.

Truthall Halt had turned itself into a 1940’s tea room as well as its usual museum items. Although only the station manager was able to partake of those refreshments, everyone else was able to use their excellent buffet at Prospidnick Halt.

Their steam train, as always was a superb attraction in itself. Which will be in action again on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday before they revert back to their heritage diesel locomotive and brake van for the month of June.
