April has been another busy month for the Stanier Mogul Fund, with 13245 looking more like an engine each month.

Cab and Firebox

The handrails have been welded back onto cab side sheets. The weld now needs grounding smooth before the area can be painted.

The new wooden cab floor is starting to be laid, and fitting of the new fall plates is in progress.

The right-hand fall plate is attached, with the left-hand one undergoing final work before its ready. New black paint now covers the reverser.

Now repairs to the outer throatplate have been completed, stays are now being refitted to the inner throat plate.

The new lower backplate is due to be welded in place soon. The join line between the new plate and existing backplate has been cleaned ready.

Cylinders and Pipes

The newly bored cylinders are now ready to receive their new liners, due to be fitted soon. Aligning equipment has been set up ready for fitting the liners.

Hidden under the running plate, various pipes such as the steam heating pipe, are fixed to the frame. Many of these pipes are now being refitted to the engine.
