The North Yorkshire Moors Railway has announced the current line up of gala visitors for its Annual Steam Gala this year.

First up is GWR ‘Hall’ No.6990 ‘Witherslack Hall’, appearing thanks to the Great Central Railway.

This locomotive was built in 1948 at the GWR works at Swindon and was located at Old Oak Common until withdrawal in 1966.

Witherslack Hall has been a resident at the GCR since it arrived there in 1975.

The second visitor for this gala is GWR ‘King’ No.6023 ‘King Edward II’, appearing courtesy of the Didcot Railway Centre.

Built in the 1930s by GWR at their Swindon Works, this express passenger locomotive worked between London Paddington and the West of England before withdrawal in 1962.

The third visitor to this gala, which is slowly becoming a must see gala, is none other than LNER ‘A4’ No.60009 ‘Union of South Africa’, which was built in 1937 at Doncaster Works.

60009 is one of 6 surviving A4s, unfortunately, this is due to be withdrawn from service soon, so time to get one last ride behind this locomotive.

Last but not least, is LNER ‘K1’ No.62005, appearing thanks to the North Eastern Locomotive Preservation Group.

This locomotive is returning to the NYMR after a season of Jacobite specials in September.
