Storm Gareth set to cancel Transport for Wales train services

Transport for Wales has announced that they have put in planned cancellations for Wednesday 13th March 2019 as Storm Gareth passes through.

Storm Gareth is expected to bring severe weather to parts of the UK on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th March 2019.

For safety reasons, many of routes in the North of Wales will be affected by speed restrictions.

As a result of the weather, the following service alterations will apply:

Holyhead – Llandudno Jn – Chester – Shrewsbury – Cardiff Central / Birmingham International

Services will have amended calling patterns with some trains not calling at  Valley, Rhosneigr, Ty Croes, Bodorgan, Llanfairpwll, Penmaenmawr, Llanfairfechan, Conwy, Abergele, Colwyn Bay, Prestatyn or Flint.

Replacement buses will operate between Holyhead – Llandudno Junction in both directions where trains are not calling.

Customers travelling to/from Abergele, Colwyn Bay, Prestatyn and Flint should use alternative train services

West Wales – Cardiff Central – Shrewsbury – Crewe – Manchester Piccadilly

No Transport for Wales services will operate between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly until 14:27 Crewe – Manchester Piccadilly (Northbound), 15:31 Manchester Piccadilly – Cardiff Central (Southbound).

Customers should use either Virgin Trains or Northern Trains services

Llandudno – Chester – Warrington Bank Quay – Manchester Piccadilly – Manchester Airport

No Transport for Wales services will operate between Warrington Bank Quay and Manchester Piccadilly / Manchester Airport until after 1430.

The first train to operate will be 13.07 Holyhead – Manchester Piccadilly (Departs Chester at 14:50) and 16:50 Manchester Piccadilly – Llandudno.

Replacement buses will operate between Warrington Bank Quay – Warrington Central where customers can connect into/out of East Midlands and Northern services
