DRS locomotive to visit Keighley and Worth Valley Railway

Class 68 diesel locomotives to take over the cumbrian coast line from monday

The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway has announced that a Direct Rail Services locomotive will be heading to their Mixed Traffic and Diesel Gala.

The KWVR have requested either a Class 68 or 88, the exact locomotive is yet to be announced.

The class 68 or 88 will be operating on Saturday only of the gala.

First built in 2014, the class 68 diesel locomotives have improved reliability and performance throughout the UK.

The Class 88s improved this even further, bringing the improvements of the Class 68s but with bi-mode operation with a pantograph. Class 88s were introduced in 2017 and are in use solely by .

The Class 68/88 joins Class 41 41001, two Class 73s, two Class 50s, Class 31 31163 and the home fleet of 25059, 20031, 37075, D0226 ‘Vulcan’, 32 ‘Huskisson’, Ivatt 2 41241, S160 5820, 78022, 75078, 43924 and more!
