The Mid Suffolk Light Railway has announced the planned arrival date for their visiting steam locomotive.

Special visitor, Sirapite, will be arriving at Brockford on the 5th April 2019.

The railway’s plan is to have the locomotive available for demonstration, shunting and runs in time for the Easter Steam Up at the railway on the 21st and 22nd April 2019.

This will be the first time the locomotive, built in 1906, has ever worked away from it’s home at The Long Shop Museum, Leiston.

‘Sirapite’ is a traction engine on rails and weighs only 8 tons 10 cwt, which is too light to pull passenger trains. During the steaming season, at the Middy, it will be in action on shunting and goods vehicles demonstrations.
