Yesterday, Thursday 24th January 2019, saw steam locomotive No.61306 Mayflower undergoing a mainline test round the Carnforth circle.
The LNER B1 has been undergoing repair at the Carnforth depot for West Coast Railways, and now resplendent in BR Apple Green, she is now undergoing tests.
These loaded test runs are a must, they enable the engine to be tested under load on the mainline to make sure everything works properly, from mechanical parts to the signalling equipment.
Thanks to Richard Harnetty, we have been able to share this superb footage of the locomotive on its test run.
The B1 is seen powering up Wilpshire bank, with the sound echoing in the valley, before shutting off as it approaches the camera.
A huge thank you to Richard Harnetty for sending in his footage, you can see his channel here.
