The Didcot Railway Centre has announced that GWR 14XX Class No.1450 will be visiting them for a few months in 2019.

The Collett 0-4-2 will be visiting the museum from the end of April to early September, making sure that you have plenty of time to see this lovely locomotive.

A wide variety of Great Western locomotives can be found at the Didcot Railway Centre, and makes an excellent summers day out!

The visit of 1450 is thanks to the Severn Valley Railway!

A brief history of 1450

The locomotive was built in 1935 as No.4850, first entering service in July 1935 at Oxford. The locomotive was renumbered 1450 by GWR and allocated to Slough in 1951. 1450 was re-allocated to Oxford in 1959, which then was followed by allocations to Exeter (1962), Taunton (1963) and Yeovil Town (1964) before a final move to Exmouth Junction in 1965. No.1450 was withdrawn in 1965, after working a total of 823,012 miles in service.

1450 spent early preservation life at the South Devon Railway (then Dart Valley Railway). She was then purchased and moved to the Dean Forest Railway, then the Severn Valley Railway in March 2014.
