2018 is almost over, and what a year it has been. As we head for the start of 2019, we take a look back at where we have been in 2018.

We have visited a variety of places this year, including some new railways and have returned to a few favourites.

Part 1 will feature January – June 2018, with Part 2 tomorrow featuring the other half of 2018.

Here are some of our favourites of 2018.

Our year started off in January 2018 when we made our first visit of the year to the East Lancashire Railway for their Sulzer Saturday, a cold day here, but an enjoyable event none the less.

Then, we made our first ever visit to the Didcot Railway Centre during their steaming day in the February Half Term. We hope to re-visit here on a warmer day in the future! Also whilst in this part of the country, we went lineside at the East Herts Miniature Railway.

The snow certainly came down then, as we return to the East Lancashire Railway for their ‘Spring’ Steam Gala, with a lot of snow forecast.

Next up, our first ever charter, taking part in a 30742 Charter at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway with the National Railway Museums BR Britannia 70013 ‘Oliver Cromwell’. We took lots of photos and video, and produced our first DVD of the year – click here for more information on that.

A few days later, we were back at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway for their Spring Steam Gala, featuring Black 5 44871, BR Britannia 70013 ‘Oliver Cromwell’ and 7F No.53808. A great weekend was had here, with a lot of photos taken.

The next highlight came when we made our next visit to the East Lancashire Railway for their 40s at 60 event. A sunny day was had, excellent for photography in.

Now it was time for the big event of the year, and it didnt disappoint. Celebrating 50 years of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway with a mega 8 day gala. Scorching hot weather didnt stop the locos powering up the bank.

6 hours of footage now features in our DVD set. Available from our shop now, well worth it! Click here for more information.
