The West Somerset Railway has announced that their resident GWR “Manor”, 7828 “Odney Manor”, has returned to service.
Overhaul
2016 saw the engine withdrawn from traffic to undergo a full overhaul after running 50,000 miles since its last overhaul in 2011.
The boiler was sent away to Riley & Son (E) Ltd to receive new tubes and copper stays, as the stays fitted at the time had defects.
At the WSR the Locomotive Department carried out a Bottom-End overhaul. With the boiler returning back to the railway in August 2018, the past five months have seen the locomotive undergo the final stages of its overhaul.
