The East Lancashire Railway has announced that over the past month, 40,775 passengers have travelled on their Santa Specials.
The thousands of passengers boarded the 103 Santa trains and travelled a total of 1,648 miles through the Irwell Valley.
That is the same distance is travelling from Manchester to Lapland and back.
On the trains, passengers ate and drank 33,250 cartons of juice and shortbread biscuits combined. 16,625 children who were on Santa’s “Nice List” received a present.
Don’t forget the sherry, with 2,415,000 millilitres drank and 24,150 mince pies eaten.
That is excellent news to finish the year on, and the volunteers and staff who make this happen should be very proud of themselves indeed!
