The Baby Deltic Project have released a short update on the work completed in their bid to build a Baby Deltic locomotive.
The connections that connect the shortened nose at the No.1 end and the main solebar have now been completed. This end was more difficult than the other end due to an error made when removing the original nose.
The cut was made to far towards the front of the locomotive. This, therefore, meant that the taper section of the drag box was breached.
This has been a nuisance for the workers, however, it has been repaired to a satisfactory quality.
This, along with the completion of the solebars, means that the next time that the locomotive needs moving, the group can do so without the need for a shunting engine.
