Yesterday evening at Chesterfield Station, two Locomotive Services Ltd Class 47 Diesel Locomotives came through double heading!
The locomotives were D1924 (47810) & 1733 (47853) on a Statesman Rail tour called Lord of The Isles which was a 3-day tour.
Day 1 heading from Milton Keynes Central to Inverness, Day 2 heading from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh & return & Day 3 returned back to Milton Keynes Central.
This tour was the first Locomotive Services Limited Statesman Rail railtour operated by the new TOC (Train Operating Company) as they’re usually operated by West Coast Railways.
Seeing two Class 47s double head was a rare sight indeed as they usually operate top n tail on tours, usually working to support Steam Locos.
