Northern has announced details of cancellations to train services on Sunday 14th October 2018 in the North West.
Northern have chosen the train services to minimise the impact on passengers.
The routes that are most affected are Liverpool, Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
Please do make sure you check before travelling this weekend, there is also a reduced service on Saturday due to planned RMT strike action.
Planned cancellations are as follows:
- Blackpool South – Colne cancellations
- One train every two hours between Blackpool South and Colne. Some replacement bus services will be available.
- Northern recommend travelling to Blackpool North from Burnley Manchester Road, Accrington or Blackburn.
- Blackpool North – Wigan North Western – Liverpool
- Passengers should use the hourly service between Wigan and Liverpool. Passengers can also use the Blackpool to Manchester Aiport service.
- DalesRail services
- All four DalesRail services are cancelled.
Anyone whose journey is delayed by 30 minutes or more can apply for compensation via Delay Repay. Details of which can be found here.

As Arriva trains Wales lost there franchise so should Arriva trains northern they should lose there franchise too I cannot believe what I am reading on Saturday it was a strike day no trains now on Sunday back to train cancellations yet again. Thanks northern when are you going to treat your passengers right I am a Disabled person and I have to book my wheelchair accessible space to go anywhere and what is the point when there is an unreliable service that you are giving.
Northern this year have been the worst train operator with cancelling so many trains across the North of England and putting passengers in such disarray and misery. They should be stripped and allow the government to take over the franchise.
