The Corris Railway have announced that carriage works at Maespoeth along with other projects will be continuing throughout the winter months.
This is all part of the continuing project to revive the oldest narrow gauge railway in Mid Wales.
2019 will mark the 160th anniversary of the line’s origin as the Corris, Machynlleth and River Dovey Tramroad.
One area where work will be progressing is the construction of the 21st-century recreation of the lines 19th-century carriages. The next working party will be taking place on the 24th and 25th November 2018 at the carriage shed at Maespoeth Junction.
New volunteers to the team are welcome and although those with wood and metal working skills would contribute to the rate of progress there is also plenty of less skilled work that needs to be done.

Away from Maespoeth Junction, some of the team have been creating components in their home workshops which are then fitted at the working parties.
Three carriages are already in traffic and aim to recreate the appearance of the originals externally but differ in having a metal rather than a wooden framing construction to meet modern safety requirements.
Two of the original carriages still exist. One can be seen in the Museum – this is GWR 6217 at Corris and GWR 4992 is part of the working fleet at the Talyllyn Railway (currently being overhauled).
As well as carriage construction, the narrow gauge railway is recreating some of the original waggons that ran on the line. These will be seen is used on works trains as required but are also attractive for charter trains.

I had a guided tour around this shed last bank holiday Monday.
They are building new carriages
And a new Narrow Gauge engine similar
to the no 7. I really admire these guys commitment, dispite they seem to have hit many a road block, with view to expansion but they just keep going.
