Stadler has, along with the Schweizerische Südostbahn AG (SOB), presented the electric low-floor Traverso train at InnoTrans 2018 in Berlin.

This long-distance train for the SOB is in the development status of the FLIRT vehicle line – Fast Light Intercity- and Regional Train.

The brand new motor bogies and other optimized carrying bogies represent the highlights of the model.

The new fleet of Voralpen-Express trains will be running on the St. Gallen – Lucerne line to coincide with timetable changes in 2019.

Traverso trains will stand out from the outside, with its clean lines and the Intercity front design. Inside, high-quality fittings have been tailored to the different user groups who will use the trains. Commuters will find areas where they can work in peace. Tourists will enjoy the views with the panoramic windows and places to store their bikes and skis safely.

Also, the train meets the latest legislation regarding equal access for disabled people.

The new bogie can be replaced quickly during maintenance work. It also has standardised components on the vehicle roof.

The eight-car trains can seat 359 passengers, with 68 seats in first class. Passengers can plug their devices into charge at the power outlets found at every seat. The train is designed to reach 200 km/h and the new Traverso has been configured to reach a speed of 160 km/h for the intended route.
