Heritage steam locomotive in Plymouth this Sunday – where and when to see it!

34052 Lord Dowding

Steam locomotive 34052 Lord Dowding will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Plymouth on Sunday 2nd September 2018.

The Light Pacific locomotive is on a special railtour tomorrow. 34052 is hauling ‘The Royal Duchy’ railtour on Sunday.

The train will depart behind a diesel locomotive from Bristol Temple Meads at approximately 08:48 am.

The railtour will then leave Bristol, bound for Par, where it will make stops at Yatton (09:03), Taunton (09:36 – where 34502 Lord Dowding will be attached), and Exeter St Davids (10:32).

From Exeter St Davids, the 34052 Lord Dowding will steam through Dawlish (11:50), Teignmouth (11:53) and Totnes (12:10) before arriving into Plymouth at 12:42.

After a 30 minute break in Plymouth, 34052 Lord Dowding will depart Plymouth at 13:13, it will then steam through Saltash at 13:22 before making another stop at Liskeard at 13:40. 34052 Lord Dowding will arrive at her final destination of Par at 14:11.

Passengers will then spend a couple of hours in Par, after which Clan Line will depart for Bristol Temple Meads at 17:40. The train returns via Liskeard (18:18), Plymouth (18:51), Exeter St Davids (20:10), Taunton (21:50 – where 34052 is detached) and Yatton (22:25) before it makes its final destination of Bristol Temple Meads, where it will arrive at 22:45.
