The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust has released a further repair update on steam locomotive No.60163 Tornado, which is taking place at the Nene Valley Railway.
The trust has reported that 60163 Tornado has completed 50 miles of running in successfully at the Nene Valley Railway.
Following this, a detailed examination was completed, and as a result, they will be able to make a number of checks and make some adjustments.
It is hoped that the locomotive will be operating on the Nene Valley Railway on Friday 21st September 2018. 60163 Tornado is then expected to haul passenger trains at the Nene Valley Railway’s ‘Tornado at Ten’ event on the 22nd and 23rd September 2018. This will all be part of completing preparations for mainline running.
Due to needing to be run in, and a mainline test to be completed, along with the recertification processes, the trust has had to postpone ‘The Ynys Mon Express’ on the 29th September, and ‘The Auld Reekie’ on the 7th October.
This is great news to hear, and we look forward to seeing 60163 Tornado back on the mainline soon.
Further updates will be released, and we will publish them as we hear of them.
