Where and when to see steam locomotive 60103 Flying Scotsman in Skipton and Ribblehead tomorrow

Steam locomotive 60103 Flying Scotsman will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Skipton and Ribblehead on Sunday 19th August 2018.

The A3 locomotive is on a special railtour tomorrow. 60103 is hauling The Waverley on Sunday.

The railtour departs with Flying Scotsman at 09:37

The railtour will then leave York, bound for Carlisle, where it will pass through Church Fenton (09:52), Micklefield (09:59) and Cross Gates (10:05) before a stop at Leeds (10:12). From here, the train will pass through Shipley (10:48), Keighley (11:00) before another stop at Skipton (11:18).

From here, the train will head for Hellifield Goods Loop. After a stop here, the locomotive will steam up the Settle and Carlisle line and through Ribblehead (12:51) and Garsdale (13:06) before stopping at Appleby at 13:31.

From Appleby, departing at 13:43, the locomotive will steam through Lazonby Kirkoswald (14:03) before arriving into Carlisle at 14:24.

After around 2 hours in Carlisle, Flying Scotsman will depart Carlisle at 16:16 bound for York. It will pass through Lazonby & Kirkoswald (16:45) and will stop for water at Appleby (17:07).

Continuing down the Settle and Carlisle line, Flying Scotsman will pass over the Ribblehead Viaduct at approx 18:04, continuing to Settle, the train comes off the Settle and Carlisle line at Settle Junction (18:23) where it heads for Hellifield, where it will arrive at 18:29.

Here, 60103 Flying Scotsman will be detached from the train, and a diesel locomotive will take the train back to York. After departing Hellifield, the train will make stops at Skipton (19:46), Keighley (20:03) and Shipley (20:16) before arriving into Leeds at 20:56.

From Leeds, the train will make the short hop to York via Cross Gates (21:19), Micklefield (21:26) and Church Fenton (21:31)

The railtour will arrive back at its final destination of York at 21:51.
