Arriva Trains Wales has announced that passengers across its network can enjoy some of the best gin in Wales.
This is all thanks to Caerphilly-based distillery, Eccentric Gin.
To celebrate this news, the train operating company invited Cardiff Gin Club onto its premium train service from Cardiff to Shrewsbury to be first in line to taste the lovingly homemade gins.
Members of Cardiff Gin Club were also treated to an evening meal cooked by Arriva’s At-Seat Catering team.
Nicky Batchelor from Cardiff Gin club, said:
“We were thrilled to receive an invitation from Arriva to join their first ever gin tasting train journey, particularly to try a selection of gins made in South Wales.
“We’re always on the lookout to sample new gins to include as part of our events, so this was a great chance for us to try something new — and doing it while on the train made the experience all the more enjoyable!
Rob Higgins, the man behind the expansion of Eccentric Gin, said:
“We are so grateful to Arriva for supporting our gins and helping to expand our audience.
“Our main goal has always been to put Cardiff on the gin map of the world. Everybody knows London Dry Gin, Plymouth Gin, Edinburgh Gin, and Dublin Gin, but Cardiff wasn’t there. It is now.”
Bethan Jelfs, Customer Services Director at Arriva, said:
“Our At-Seat Catering team are continually striving to provide exceptional customer service for our customers during their journey across our network.
“We are really excited to be working with another south Wales-based company and have already received great feedback on the products and their unique flavours.
“We hope our adult customers will continue to enjoy the bespoke gins and beers with such a wide variety of flavours.”
