Class 40 No.40135 has been lifted off of its bogies at the East Lancashire Railway Baron Street Locomotive Works to allow lasting repairs to bearings.
The bearing was repaired at Barrow Hill sufficiently in 2011, this allowed the locomotive to return to traffic at the time.
However, the locomotive now requires a full repair to see the locomotive run efficiently for the future.
The timing of the work is unknown while the closer inspection is undertaken and the machining of new parts is started.
40135 is booked to be hired to the Severn Valley Railway for 12 months from this Autumn. This is currently being covered by 40106
We will update you as work is covered, in the meantime, if you would like to donate money towards the cost of these repairs, you can do by clicking here.
