Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway prepare to welcome back steam locomotive Katie

The Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway will be running driver for a fiver this summer, which allows you to fulfil your childhood dream and drive a steam train.

Every Tuesday from the 24th July 2018 until 28th August, you will be able to become a steam engine driver for just £5. They run every 15 minutes and will take you outside the engine shed. You will even get a certificate at the end.

Timeslots will be given to you at the booking office at Ravenglass, with them running from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm.

A brief history of Katie

Steam locomotive Katie was built by Sir Arthur Heywood in 1896, it arrived at the in 1916 and has recently returned to working order.
