Greater Anglia has announced that it is boosting train services on the Norwich to Great Yarmouth line on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th June 2018.

This boost in train service is to help people heading to and from the Great Yarmouth Airshow.

The train operating company has added carriages to trains and will be running them every half an hour throughout the day, with three trains an hour during peak times in the morning and evening.

Trains will operate with three carriages rather than the usual two carriages using the longest trains in the company’s fleet.

is also hiring in extra locomotives to enable it to run two additional trains which can carry 500 people.

Staff will also be on hand to help passengers and provide information.

The train operating company is warning passengers of busy trains and to allow extra time for their journey.

Passengers are also being advised to buy tickets in advanced online and via the Greater Anglia app to reduce waiting times.

What about the strike on 16th June?

The strike taking place on the 16th June 2018 will not affect any Greater Anglia train service. The train operating company will be running the full scheduled service using contingency guards.

What did the officials say?

Greater Anglia’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Jonathan Denby, said:

“We’ve increased the frequency and length of trains on both days. We’re expecting it to be very busy, so it is important that we do as much as we can to help people travel to and from the airshow.”

Greater Anglia’s Area Customer Service Manager, James Reeve, said:

“If you intend to travel to the airshow by train, we’re advising that you buy your ticket in advance. It will save you time standing in a long queue at the ticket office or ticket machines, so you’ll be on your way more promptly if you already have a ticket.”

“We’re pleased to be supporting the first ever Great Yarmouth airshow which will be a big boost for the area.”
