The Mid Hants Railway have announced they have a position available for someone to join their team and work for the popular heritage railway.

The Mid Hants Railway is one of the leading heritage railway’s in Britain and is one of Hampshire’s top tourist attractions. As one of the Country’s leading Heritage Railways and Hampshire’s top tourist attractions, the Mid Hants Railway is offering an exciting opportunity for a loco & carriage fitter to join our small, but dedicated team, restoring steam locomotives and heritage rolling stock at Ropley (SO24 0BL).

The position has become available for Steam Locomotive and Carriage Fitter.

The successful candidate will be able to critically assess mechanical components that the railway has to fix them.

Ideally, the candidate will be qualified to use gas cutting and MIG & Arc welding equipment and needs to be competent in using hand tools. Previous experience is preferred but isn’t essential, full job training will be given.

The working hours are 8:30 – 17:15 Monday to Friday with a 45-minute break for lunch. Some weekend and out of hours work may be required. 20 days a year plus bank holidays are entitled.

Salary is down to experience.
