TransPennine Express have announced that they will no longer be introducing the Mark 3 trains to passenger service.
The announcement today follows on from recent discussions which have taken place between the train operator and the Department for Transport and Rail North Partnership.
The Mark 3 trains were expected to provide an additional two trains which were being brought in on a temporary basis to serve the Liverpool to Scarborough via Manchester and Leeds route.
Now, the trains will be used exclusively for driver training ready for their new trains to be introduced.
The first of the brand new Nova trains are still expected to begin service from Autumn 2018.

TransPennine Express Class 802’s could be ideal to operate to Scarborough from Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Airport and Leeds. Aswell retaining the Class 185’s between York and Scarborough.
