Trains via the ‘Art of Wales’ line..!

Heart of Wales line to be celebrate with trains and art from Arriva Trains Wales

Arriva Trains Wales have announced that four talented artists will be opening up their studios to the public along the Heart of Wales Line in June to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the route.

The local artists will be opening their studios in Knighton and Knucklas to the public from 1st June until 4th June 2018, all of which is accessible by train along the Heart of Wales Line.

The studios will be held on all four days from 11 am to 5 pm, giving visitors an insight into the range of creative processes, from painting to pottery.

The open studios will be hosted from the following venues:

  • The Old School, Knighton, West Street
  • Upper House, Knucklas
  • Castle Hill Arts, Knucklas
  • Castle Garden, Knucklas

The artists are all very different, so there is certainly something for everyone.

Andy Hazell

Andy is an internationally respected artist and is known for creating huge steel pieces, the creations combine a mix of seriousness and fun and will be displaying his work at the Old School in Knighton.

Tony Hall

Tony is well known to be one of the UK’s leading big pot throwers. He has created a unique range of ceramics from large-scale outdoor pots to hand-thrown tableware. Tony’s work will be on show at Castle Hill Arts, Knucklas.

Rachael Taylor

Rachael Taylor is an accomplished portrait painter who creates portraits full of personality and will be displaying her work at the Old School, Knighton.

Rachael describes herself as:

‘one woman mission to document real people with real stories instead of the artificial lives we see in ‘selfies’ plastered all over the internet. When I paint someones portrait I look for the traits that make them who they are, not who the media tells them they should be.’

Martin Evans

Martin is a poet, writer and film-maker. He’s the founder of the cult website The Telegraph Pole Appreciation Society. His micro film ‘Nuisance’ is the UK Entry in the World Minute Movie Cup at UNICA this September to be held in the Czech Republic. Martin’s short film ‘Heart Beat’ will be shown in a rolling Nano-cinema at Upper House, Knucklas 1-st – 4th June, 11am – 5pm / 6.30pm at the weekend.
