The Mid Suffolk Light Railway has announced that Ruston 48 No.294266 has arrived at the railway – a member of the only class of diesel to operate on the old MSLR.
This locomotive was previously owned by Sir William McAlpine – Lawrie Rose was able to complete the purchase before the legendary enthusiast passed away – Sir William McAlpine was also the owners of Pendennis Castle and Flying Scotsman.
Back when it operated on the old line, it had a working life of lifting the track on the line, when it was unfortunately closed.
It is hoped now though, that the locomotive will be involved in the complete opposite. The locomotive will hopefully be helping to relay track up to Aspall Halt.

It never worked on the original MSLR
Hi,
Thanks for your comment.
I mis-explained the sentence there, should have said it is a member of the only class of diesel to operate on the original MSLR, which I have now updated to say.
Regards,
Michael
But according to Lawrie (YouTube: Lawrie’s Mechanical Marvels) , one of its sisters was involved in the ripping up of the original MSLR tracks
