Following Jeremy Hoskings offer to lend replacement parts, David Elliott has visited LNWRH at Crewe to look at the components off Blue Peter. Whilst they are capable of being used, the current rate of manufacture of new motion parts means that they may be no longer needed.

The is very grateful for the way their friends and industry partners have rallied around to help them in the repairs of Tornado.

What happened?

Many of you will already know but on the 14th April 2018, Tornado suffered a failure near Sandy whilst hauling ‘The Ebor Flyer’. Immediately after the failure, the locomotive was hauled to Peterborough by GB RailFreight Class 66 No. 66744 ‘Crossrail’, the locomotive was removed from the train at Peterborough and was immediately transferred to the Nene Valley Railway.
