The Midland Railway at Butterley has announced that they have taken the difficult decision to cancel the visit of steam locomotive No.60163 ‘Tornado’.

The locomotive was due to visit the railway on the 21st and 22nd of April 2018.

The reasons behind this cancellation are that Tornado suffered mechanical difficulties over the weekend. The locomotive was on a railtour from London to York, ‘The Ebor Flyer’.

The railway is in discussions with the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, who own and maintain Tornado, about possible revised dates for another visit, more announcements will be made shortly.

Those of you who are advanced ticket holders will be contacted by the MRB over the next few days, please bear with the railway as there is a large number of people to contact.

What did they say?

The railway said:

Our thoughts are with “The ” for a quick return to operation.
