After last pulling carriages in 2013, Steam locomotive, Samson, is set to return to traffic on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway in April this year,

Samson worked its last train in 2013 towards the end of its Boiler Certificate.

The mountain class locomotive is unusual as it is a 4-8-2 mixed traffic loco, which were designed for hauling shingle trains from the coast between Dungeness and Hythe.

This aggregate traffic did not last long and along with her sister Hercules as worked passenger trains ever since, alongside the gleet of 8 pacific trains owned by the RHDR.

The locomotive was overhauled at the railways own workshops and can be seen back in action on Saturday the 21st April
