About 47406’s Visit
Delivered to line recently, 47406 will soon start working trains on the line for the next few weeks.
The tank will run at next weekend’s (Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of March) Spring Gala, starring alongside home fleet diesel Sentinel No.7109 “Joyce”.

A brief history of 47406
Built as 16489 by the North British Locomotive Company in 1926, the tank was first allocated to Warrington. Renumber 47406 by British Railways, the engine survived until 1966, when withdrawn and sent to Barry Scrapyard.
2010 saw the engine steamed for the first time in preservation, at the Great Central Railway. Since then, 47406 has been seen at many heritage lines and currently wears British Railways Unlined Black with Early Crest.
