ScotRail has announced that it has remained the best performing large train operator in Britain. This is despite facing the first-ever Met Office red warning for snow since the current system began.

The Beast from the East caused major disruption to all forms of transport in February and March.

Some parts of Scotland saw the worst snow in generations.

and Network Rail staff worked round the clock to keep people moving where possible.

From the ScotRail website

For the 12 months to 3 March 2018, nine out of ten ScotRail trains (89.7 per cent) met the industry standard target of having arrived at its final destination within five minutes of its scheduled time – having stopped at all scheduled stations. For the four week period to 3 March 2018, 86.6 per cent of ScotRail trains arrived within five minutes of the scheduled time.

What did the officials say?

ScotRail Alliance operations director Perry Ramsey said “We faced the worst snow this country has faced for generations, which has had an understandable impact on our performance. We know how frustrating the disruption was for our customers, and appreciate their patience as we worked to get things back to normal.

“The fact that ScotRail remains the best performing large operator in Britain is down to the hard work of our staff in the ScotRail Alliance.

“The thousands of people in ScotRail and Network Rail Scotland went above and beyond the call of duty to keep people moving where possible, and then to get the full railway back open again as quickly as possible.”
