The Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway has announced that steam locomotive “Katie”, a 2-4-2 Tender engine, will be the first visiting guest engine for the line’s 70th Anniversary Weekend.

About “Katie”

Katie was built in 1954 by Trevor Guest. The first line the engine operated on was the Dudley Zoo Railway in 1956.

The engine has been moved to several railways over the years, first visiting the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway in 1994, staying for seven years, before leaving in 2001. Katie’s last visit to the line was a short one in 2013.

Receiving a major overhaul at the Windmill Farm Railway, including a new boiler, Katie was then purchased by the Kirklees Light Railway in 2015, where the engine has been ever since.

About 70th Anniversary Weekend

This event will celebrate 70 years of the line running, taking place on Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th of July. Guest locomotives will therefore reflect this. Further guests engines will be announced at a later date.
